During nose surgery, incisions are usually made inside the nose or between the nostrils. To reduce nose size,some cartilage in the middle of the nose (septum) is removed until the desired size is achieved. To build up the nose, cartilage and bone may be added to increase its size. Changing the tip or bridge, and the nose angle is achieved by reshaping the nose’s cartilage and soft tissue. Nostril span is narrowed via small incisions at the base of each nostril.

After the procedure, some packing may be fitted inside your nose and a splint on the outside to support the nose during initial healing. You may experience bruising and swelling around the eyes, but this should ease off in about a week, and you should be ready to resume normal activities by then. Your new nose shape will refine over the next few months, as the swelling settles.
