Breast Augmentation (enlargement)

Breast augmentation or enlargement using silicone or saline filled implants, will suit those patients who have small, uneven breasts or disproportionate breasts. This surgical procedure can also be used to correct slight sagging of the breasts, to increase firmness or to create a breast for patients following a mastectomy. There are many choices with this procedure and it is important that you are fully informed of all the considerations prior to making this decision for yourself.

Breast Augmentation can create firm breasts at any age

At the Eden Institute of Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery, your health is very much our priority. We therefore do not insert implants that are too big for your chest wall. They may look terrific, but can be problematic in later years when the tissue thins and the implants become palpable. As a result the tissue ripples and dimples. At the Eden Institute we take your measurements and an appropriate sized implant is then suggested. It is good to note that most patients can fairly accurately gauge what size implants would be the most suitable. We assist our patients to try out various sizes themselves and come up with a decision that they are comfortable with. This is done at your leisure and you can try out various sizes as often as you need to make your decision. Once the final decision is reached this will need to be discussed with Dr Edinburg and a final joint decision will need to be made. We have feedback from many patients that they have had their problems expertly addressed at The Eden Institute. The procedure takes 1-2 hours under general anaesthetic and may require an overnight stay in hospital.
Possible Side Effects and Risks: bleeding, infection, seroma, capsule formation (scar tissue around the implant) deflation, migration, loss of nipple sensation and poor scars.
