Mastopexy (Breast Lift)

The Eden Institute of Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery in Sydney combines the science of medicine with the art of contouring.Often after extensive weight loss or with ageing one can experience a progressive dropping of the breasts. Mastopexy or breast lifting is indicated for sagging breasts where the nipples point downwards towards the abdomen. This may be the result of normal development or after childbirth and breast-feeding. There are a number of surgical procedures that can help to lift and reshape the breast, without changing the breast size. At the Eden Institute of Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery we assess each individual situation and discuss a plan to suit your needs.

Mastopexies may be combined with breast enlargements and reductions. This will be discussed by you and Dr Edinburg, so that the best outcome for your unique concern can be addressed.

The procedure The 1-3 hour procedure raises and reshapes the sagging breast, by removing excess skin and repositioning the tissue and nipple areolar complex. Performed under general anaesthetic, the patient is required to go to hospital for either a day or overnight stay and usually recovers within a week (scars fade within a year).
