Facelift (Rhytidectomy)

The Eden Institute of Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery in Sydney combines the science of medicine with the art of contouring. If you are looking for a refreshed more youthful look then a number of surgical procedures that focus on removing lines and wrinkles on the face and neck are an option using various facial surgery techniques. These may include a minor operation to a major operation depending on the severity of the condition. Dr Edinburg will assess your specific needs to determine which particular lifting procedure would best suit you as no one operation is indicated for everyone. However, from a Face Lifting (Rhytidectomy) procedure you can expect to see improvement in sagging of facial skin, jowls and neck skin. This may also involve work to re-drape the skin and tightening of the muscles.

The earliest signs of ageing generally occur in the eye and forehead areas

Dr Edinburg specialises in several tightening procedures including the famous SMAS procedure. This includes tightening the deeper layers under the skin. As minimal stretching is placed on the skin in this procedure the skin will return to full recovery in a shorter period of time. Other complimentary cosmetic treatments and procedures such as neck-lift, brow-lift, eyelift, nasolabial fold resection (these are the lines that run vertically from the side of the nose to the side of the mouth). Other treatments include lip enhancement, liposuction, fat transfer, chin augmentation and rhinoplasty (nose reconstruction) can also be performed at the same time as a face-lifting procedure. These options to enhance your overall result can be suggested and discussed with you during your consultation. A long-term plan of maintenance and care of your skin will also be recommended to support your long-term benefits.

The procedure usually in 3-5 hours with patients required to stay in hospital for 1-2 days. Recovery takes up to 2 weeks for swelling and bruising to settle.
