As we age the circular muscle that surrounds the mouth (Orbicularis oris) tends to weaken and drop, while the lips diminish in volume making them appear thinner and the mouth weaker and sometimes uneven. Lines begin to form vertically around the mouth, while the corners of the mouth often droop. These conditions not only make the individual look older, but can also contribute to “bleeding” of lipstick into these wrinkles, which can be unsightly.
Plumber lips can minimise and sometimes eliminate all these conditions and there are a number of options available such as dermal fillers or fat transfer that offer excellent results. These can be simple non-surgical techniques that can be administered by our experienced aesthetic Registered Nurses.
Alternatively, there are other surgical procedures that can be undertaken to lift the upper lip and to enhance the angle of the corner of the mouth to give a more youthful, cheerful look. These procedures aim at restoring a youthful fullness and are often combined with other facial procedures or can be carried out in isolation.
