Cosmetic and Plastic Surgery Patient's Stories

Breast Asymmetry

Hi my name is Sarah,  Since a very young age I have been extremely unhappy with my breasts! My left breast was approx a D and my right breast was approx a B as you can tell I had a very large asymmetry! I had previously seen a gynaecologist at the age of 14 in relation to the problem and my body image issues that came along with it. She had told me to wait until the age of 18 before considering plastic surgery, and to wait and see it would even its self out. At the age of 17 and a half the issue had not resolved itself and was heavily impacting my self esteem and my confidence I hated my breast and would purposely wear clothes to disguise it! I had tried everything to help eg. wearing chicken fillets and push up bras but nothing changed the fact that when I took off my bra I felt flat chested and disgusting! I spoke to my GP about the issue and be immediately gave me a referral to my plastic surgeon (DR ME of Sydney) I spoke to my mum seriously about the issue for the first time and reluctantly showed her she was unaware of how bad the issue was and how badly it affected me, she told me that if seeing this surgeon would help put my mind at ease then she would take me! When I saw my surgeon I was extremely nervous and unaware of what To expect. I was treated extremely well with respect and professionalism from the word go! He put my mind at ease immediately and I felt like I was finally going to get what I felt was "normal" and I couldn't have been happier. After a few consolations and a sizing to see what size implants we were going to use, it was all finally happening! My surgeon was so thorough and answered all of my questions perfectly! My mind was at ease... As well as my mothers. My surgeon and I agreed on the size of my implants and he went through every stage of the surgery with me! He explained that it would be painful and that there are some potential risks and complications but in my eyes what I was living with was risk enough. We booked in my surgery for the 5th of feb 2013 and it was the most exciting and nerve racking day of my life. Before the surgery I got drawn on like a white board for all the cuts and where everything would be moved too. After my surgery came the worst 2-3 days of my life I wouldn't describe what I felt as pain but more severe discomfort, like bricks laying on my chest. I also had a bit of a nasty reaction to the medication and pain killers, I didn't eat for about a day due to severe nausea and vomiting (I guess everyone reacts differently to meds). I was in hospital for 3 days and 2 nights as per the reaction to the medication they wanted to keep me in the extra night. i had 2 weeks off work to begin with and I must say everyday I was significantly improving !! After a week and a bit I was pretty much back to normal, going for walks driving seeing friends and finally getting out of the house. I had my follow up appointment with my surgeon 8 days after my surgery he was very pleased with the outcome I was still a bit unsure as it takes a few months for them to reach their final shape and size etc. after going back to work for 1 day I noticed that there was a hole in my left breast which I later found outs referred to as a wound breakage.. One of my stitches had torn and caused a hole to form. Of course I freaked out thinking the worst but an immediate appointment with my surgeon the next day reassured me that it would be fine! I had to dress the wound twice a day which was a tad annoying I will admit. I had another week off work and it was amazing the difference one extra week makes I felt sooooo much better more like me and my normal mood and self ! After the 3 weeks I was also noticing a huge change in my breasts ! They were starting to look really good evening out heeling and I was so happy. A few more follow up appointments were necessary as he wanted to check my wound as well as how the rest of my was heeling! And today I had my last follow up appointment 7 weeks after my surgery and in all honestly I could not be happier with the result !! My wound has almost fully heeled and I am now wearing normal bras again ! My self confidence has shot through the roof ! The job my surgeon has done is incredible, my care before and throughout this process was impeccable !!! Words can seriously not express how much I would recommend this surgery for anyone with similar problems (after going through the correct process and getting your surgeons opinion on what's best for you)! The process was a long and exhausting one with all the care, time off work and etc but most definitely a process worth going through. I can't express my thanks enough to the team that saw me through and I can only hope others can experience the same care and result !

Abdominoplasty and Liposuction Sydney

Dr Edinburg,
When I walked into your office a few months back, I had no idea at the time just how much that one visit to a perfect stranger was going to change my life forever. I was scared and nervous, and had not completely made up my mind that I was going to go through with any type of procedure. I came to you, after losing a fair bit of weight, but I was unhappy with my end result. After all the training (rain, hail or shine) I went through, my change of diet. I felt that I was cheated of all my hard work, which led me to your office. After meeting with you for the first time, I knew that you could help me, I felt comfortable with you, and loved how honest and up-front you were about everything and I knew I would end up with the body that I deserved :) It was a matter of weeks and I was in hospital, again nervous and scared, but so damn excited :) I knew it was going to be hard, but with your words I was ready for anything. The first couple of days in hospital were the hardest, but I couldn't stop thinking about how much I wanted to get out of bed and show off my new body... Everyday got a little easier, and now 4 months down the track after my Abdominoplasty and Liposuction, I have dropped a couple of dress sizes (Im running, I cycle, and I Zumba), I'm wearing a size 12 suit, and I have an amazing (beautiful scar) along with my amazing new body - This I thank you for... A new lease on life :) In my 30 years I have not smiled this much ever :) I would recommend you to anybody!! Thank you so much again.

Breast Augmentation Surgery Sydney

To whom it may concern,
Before I had my breast augmentation with Dr. Edinburg, I was always frustrated with padded bras and purchasing clothing that I actually never felt comfortable in due to the fact that I had no breasts. The fact is that in terms of normal female development I had progressed quite well into a healthy woman, but unfortunately my breasts grew slightly when I was 11 years old and that was it. And now I was going on 20 years old and finding bras that once fitted me when I was 12 were now gaping in the cup!
My mother had told me that she was in the exact same situation at my age, but getting breast implants was a life changing experience for her, and she has never looked back since!
I made an appointment with Dr. Edinburg to find out information regarding pricing, operation procedures and recovery time, and by the end of the appointment I wanted to book a date.
Three days after the operation, I was concerned that the size of my new breasts were not that different in comparison to the size they were preoperative, and I was upset that I felt uncomfortable for nothing. But when I was permitted to shower and remove the prescribed tight-fitting bra I was modeling in front of the mirror for a good 10 minutes admiring the vast improvement and almost forgot to shower!
Kind regards, Laura

Tummy Tuck and Liposuction Sydney

Dear Mark
In July 2007 I had abdominoplasty to reduce the overhang that had resulted from my weight loss. I also had liposuction performed on my hips.
These procedures are not without potential complications (like all surgery) but mine went very, very well. After my recuperation period (6-8 weeks) I fully appreciated what I had done.
No belly! Hello feet! I can do my shoes up without cutting off my breathing and with no difficulty. My "trunk" has not much "junk" anymore and I am delirious! I do not get tired during the day anymore. You can actually see where my breasts stop and my abdomen begins!
I have gone down at least 1 dress and pant size. I have more energy, more confidence and NO reason to over indulge ever again.
Truly, honestly, I can say that this surgery literally changed my life. I am about to undertake my PADDI diving certificate over the Xmas period. I have taken up Tap Dancing and am planning to travel because I am fitter and healthier than I have been in a long time.

Nose Surgery Sydney

Hi Mark
I'm not sure if you remember me. I had your amazing hands do some work on my nose about 3 years ago. I am writing to you just to say thank you so much for doing a brilliant job and for helping make me a more confidant person and change my life!
When I look in the mirror I think about how conscious I used to be and how I don't need to be like that now as I love the shape and look of my nose. People are always commenting on how "cute" my nose is and that's them not knowing I had a little work done on it! That is the biggest compliment of all - how natural it looks and how great it makes me feel.
I am always giving people your name and location if they do have any issued with themselves not only because I trust you but because you were so patient and understanding during my decision making process.
Again, than you so much Dr Mark for making me a happier person with the way I look and for the great work of Art on my nose.

Facial Surgery Sydney

This is just a short note to thank you for the excellent work you did on removing 2 moles, one on my face and the other below my right ear. After 2 weeks of surgery, there was hardly a scar. I have already recommended you to two work colleagues.

Hand Surgery Sydney

Dear Dr Edinburg,
You performed a Dupuytren's operation on my right ring finger in June 2005 and I am writing to say how pleased I am with the results. I have not forgotten your warning that the disease can recur. However I have almost normal use of my right hand, even typing after a lapse of several years. I inherited this condition from my father, who was a fine musician until Dupuytren's affected his dexterity. In the early 1960s little could be done to relive his condition. I am grateful for the progress in medical science and so fortunate to have a physician with your knowledge and surgical skill.
Yours in appreciation, Michael C

Dearest Dr Mark,
I think I should begin this letter by saying the one thing I've wanted to say since you first agreed to help me. THANK YOU!! Thank you SO incredibly much from the bottom of my heart... thank you. Thank you for completely changing my life and enhancing my happiness to its highest possible level. Believe me, I'm not saying any of this lightly, you have given me the best gift of all, self confidence and the ability to walk into a room and greet everyone with the biggest smile ever!
Yours sincerely, Chantelle H

Breast Reduction and Tummy Tuck Surgery Sydney

I feel like I have been on a mission for 12 years. After consulting two other cosmetic surgeons regarding a breast reduction, I found Dr Mark Edinburg. I took a few months to decide to go ahead with a breast reduction and abdominoplasty (tummy tuck). Never at any time have I felt uncomfortable with any information or communication with Dr Edinburg. At all times his staff (Debbie, Eva and Wanda) have been very friendly and approachable. Even the anesthetist Dr Jean Marie Fricot was excellent (very little pain). I am extremely happy with the end result. I now have a wardrobe of clothes that fit, at no extra expense or shopping. The follow-up visits have been as friendly and professional as the first day I had my consultation. I cannot speak highly enough about everything from beginning to end.
Yours faithfully, Pauline B
