As we age, our face and neck become susceptible to sagging skin, excess fat and a loosening of the muscles. Neck Lift Surgery is often incorporated into a facelift procedure as neck sagging is usually accompanied by sagging of the jowls or skin over the lower jaw. At The Eden Institute, we offer many treatments that can help tighten ageing skin, and sometimes it’s hard to know which option is right for you. Dr Edinburg and our support staff are here to answer any questions you might have, from ‘what is neck lift surgery’ to ‘how does neck lift surgery work’. Below, find answers to some of our most frequently asked questions about neck lift surgery. Remember that Dr Edinburg is best able to answer questions and elaborate based on his evaluation of your needs.
Depending on your needs and the procedure required, Neck Lift Surgery takes 1 to 3 hours under general anaesthetic, with a day or overnight stay. Depending on the patient, it may be performed at the Eden Institute practice in Baulkham Hills.
We cannot stress enough that each patient’s solution is unique. Reading about procedures and effects does not give you a realistic assessment of your case. An in-depth consultation with Dr Edinburg will help you understand the most appropriate way to proceed.
You may feel slightly bruised and swollen, with discomfort improving over the first couple of weeks.
Most patients recover fully in around 7 to 10 days.
You can normally go back to work after 10 days, although heavy lifting and strenuous exercise should be avoided for around 3 weeks.
To minimise any scarring, Dr Edinburg usually makes incisions under the chin and behind the ears.
