Male breast reduction surgery in Sydney with Dr Edinburg is done under a general anaesthetic in hospital and, for your comfort and care, generally requires either a day stay or overnight stay. Dr Edinburg also employs highly experienced and specialised practice nurses and patient support staff to guide and support you throughout your journey with us. Male breast reduction surgery, therefore, involves multiple facets including other medical professionals both in and out of the hospital environment, hospital theatre facilities, hospital accommodation and specialised post-surgical garments, all of which affect the overall cost of the procedure. At Eden Institute, you can rest assured that Dr Edinburg will never compromise on the many factors involved in determining your costs.
Total Approximate Cost for Male Breast Reduction in Sydney
Male Breast Reduction is the procedure used to treat Gynaecomastia, a common condition in men which results in excess fat and/or tissue which is resistant to diet and exercise. The surgery can be done in one of two ways or a combination of both. The first method is to remove excess fatty tissue with liposuction and the second method is to remove excess breast and glandular tissue by cutting it out.
When there is excess breast or glandular tissue, the procedure to remove it is usually eligible for a Medicare item number. Your eligibility for this will be assessed during your one-on-one consultation with Dr Edinburg, after which we will provide you with a detailed personal quote outlining all the costs. Feel free to speak with us about Medicare’s eligibility criteria when you call. Liposuction is not eligible for a Medicare item number so there is no Medicare rebate or health fund cover for this type of surgery.
Total cost for Male Breast Reduction surgery with Dr Edinburg includes the surgeon’s fee, the anaesthetist’s fee, hospital costs (if any) and specialised postoperative garments.
COST: $10,200 out of pocket incl GST for liposuction method (with no item number and day stay in hospital)
$8,800 out of pocket for surgical reduction of breast/glandular tissue (with item number, no health fund cover and 1 night in hospital)
$5,800 out of pocket (with both Medicare item number and health fund cover)
If you are uninsured or the procedure is not eligible for a Medicare item number, the major variable in the cost of a male breast reduction is the hospital where you have the surgery. Dr Edinburg will not compromise on his high standards and ethical practice so he chooses to operate at three well-established and highly regarded private hospitals in Sydney. He demands the highest level of care for you from the moment you enter the hospital, whilst you undergo your surgery and during your postoperative care.
Dr Edinburg uses the most up-to-date, specialised techniques and the team that support him at Eden Institute are all highly experienced. This means we can deliver to you the very best treatment plan and the very best treatment throughout your journey with us.
This is a general guide, and of course, will be personalised for your circumstances after you have consulted with Dr Edinburg.
